Best Cat Strollers for your Adventure Kitty

Best Cat Strollers for your Adventure Kitty

Most cat owners can attest to the yearning their pets show for the great outdoors. In spite of thousands of years of domestication, our little lawn lions are wild at heart. The outside world poses hazards for a wayward deline left to their own devices. But, there are ways to give your friend a taste of the outdoors, without sacrificing safety. One way to achieve this is with cat strollers. Using one of the many pet strollers on the market, you can get your steps in and let your feline friend enjoy some fresh air at the same time.

Here, we’ve rounded up a list of best cat strollers, so you can take your furry friend on all your outdoor adventures.

Considerations

Some key considerations for the stroller you need might include

  1. Portability: If you live in an apartment, you may need a space-saving stroller that is easily collapsible and stowable.
  2. Size: Your cat’s size will dictate the amount of size of stroller. A 8 pound Bombay cat needs less space than a Maine Coon 25-pounder who will need a roomier carriage.
  3. Number of compartments: Multi-cat households might consider double-decker options that allow you to walk multiple cats at once.
  4. Activity Level: If you’re a runner, you need a cat stroller that can keep pace with your active lifestyle.
  5. Budget: There are an array of cat strollers to fit all budgets.

The Giantex Double Pet Stroller is one of the best cat strollers we’ve reviewed for multi-cat households. Two separate compartments mean you can take out two feline friends at once. Because each cat has their own “chariot”, you won’t have to worry about squables between kitties who may not be the bestest of buds. A bonus feature is the removable carriages that convert to pet carriers in a pinch, making this an awesome option for vet and groomer visits or any situation where portability and transportation flexibility is desirable.

Introducing your cat to stroller life

Cats are creatures of habit and notoriously finicky. Some will take to a stroller right away while others might be apprehensive and need some time to adjust. We found Toby and Dessie took to the stroller right off the bat in their eagerness to get outside and explore. Some tips to make your cat more eager to try out a stroller include:

  1. Take your cat to fun places!: It may sound obvious, but a good way to get your cat to take to strollers and carriers is to make sure there’s a fun destination awaiting them on the other side. Of course, trips to the vet are unavoidable, but we try to make travelling with our cats an enjoyable experience for our cats the majority of the time. We’ve found that taking our cats to the park, for a visit to a friend’s or family’s house, or any other fun destination for them to explore has increased their appetite for getting out and about in a stroller. It’s a good idea to intentionally take your cat to fun places from kittenhood so their experiences with carriers and strollers are overwhelmingly positive ones.
  2. Entice them with treats: A bit of bribery never hurts when it comes to winning over your cat. Feeding your cat treats while in the stroller can make it a place your cats want to go.

Make the carrier a comfortable place: Make your cat’s stroller feel like a home away from home. Put some of their favourite toys in the carriage. You can also use a calming spray, like Feliway, which has a calming effect on some cats.

Happy adventuring!

We hope this article provides you with a starting point with ideas to get out and about with your cat. With the right cat stroller, you and your furry buddy are sure to enjoy the adventure lifestyle.
